Preface

The Forum for Human Dignity as the name suggests, is established to maintain human dignity whenever there is ominous danger of human dignity being at stake.

Nothing or none can take away Human Rights or Human Dignity by constitution or legislation under any circumstances.

The forum has human dignity as its objective and has striven to preserve it even in the face of human rights violation.

All the efforts, the forum has made to ensure Human Rights and Dignity to the people caught in the war are recorded in this Half Year Situation Report 2001. This war has brought about untold suffering to innocent civilians who yearn to live a quiet respectable and decent life they led before the onset of the war, and the forum is engaged in bringing about a peaceful life to them by taking step with concern government bodies to resettle them in their own homes or their place of birth.

Finally Forum for Human Dignity wish to express its sincere gratitude to Dan Church Aid for funding for our documentation Project of Human Right abuses arising out of the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka.

On this 27th day of September 2001
